Council 71 Bi-Annual Scholarship |

| Awarded bi-annual to AFSCME members, significant others and their dependents. |

We are pleased to announce our 1st Bi-Annual Awards Scholarship. These scholarships (four (4) $500 for each recipient) are dedicated to the many members of our Council and the hard work they perform on behalf of our member’s everyday.
In order to become eligible you must meet all requirements. The applicant’s significant other and/or dependent must be a member in good standing. The application must be filled out and all other necessary documents must be attached.
The AFSCME New Jersey Council 71 Scholarship program, sponsored by donations received from individuals and organizations interested in assisting members of our Union continue their education through hard work and study.
This is Council 71’s 1st bi-annual awards selection and we hope to award four members in good standing, significant others and/or a children of a member in good standing awards of $500.00 each towards continuing their education. |

Eligibility for Scholarships |
In order to become eligible you must meet all requirements.
- The applicant’s must be a member in good standing, a significant other of a member in good standing or a dependent of a member in good standing.
- Have a high school diploma and/or a GED.
- Lastly, submit an essay of no less than 500 words expressing:
“WHAT IMPACT HAS POLITICS AND UNIONISM HAD ON
THE LIFE OF YOU AND YOUR FAMILY?”

| Upon completion of the application, please return all documents to the attention of the Scholarship Committee to the address below and it must be postmarked no later that August 15, 2011 |
