Brothers and Sisters,

Please know that the upcoming November elections will be very important to all New Jerseyans, but especially Public Employees!  In times like these, it’s important for each of us to examine the records of the candidates for Governor to make sure they share our values.

Chris Christie is not a friend of Public Employees.  He goes around New Jersey bragging that that he is going to lay off thousands of hardworking public employees, calling Gov. Corzine “crazy” for trying to save workers’ jobs.  He promises to end defined benefit pensions, eliminate project labor agreements as well as prevailing wages, all of which are good for working families.  He opposes requiring health insurance companies to cover basic healthcare procedures, including childhood check-ups, prostate cancer screenings and mammograms.

We need to let politicians seeking office on a platform of attack on unions know that we will not support them.  Mr. Christie has no respect for us, nor for our contributions to the State and our communities.  We can and must make the difference in this election, which means working harder and smarter.

Gov. Corzine is our friend, even though he has had to make tough decisions.  We know we can count on Gov. Corzine to work with the members of the labor community to turn around our economy and help working families turn the page to a better future.

Let me extend an invitation to anyone who wishes to be a part of this election, to reach out, along with your friends and family, to help us get out the message.  Call the Council to volunteer for walks/taks and education of our brothers and sisters.

While how you vote is a personal decision, we believe the real leader we need is the one we already have – Governor Jon Corzine.

“Yes We Can – Again! On November 3, 2009”

In Solidarity,
Brenda J. Carpenter
Executive Director
